I’m leaving for NY soon to help my sister out with her move. One of the things I’m looking forward to is going to Veselka’s diner. I remember having some good rice pudding there, as well as some nice buckwheat pancakes another time. But right now, I’m pining for pierogies.

I had an intense dream this morning before waking up. I think it must have taken place in a large casino, given all the people milling around. It was the day of my wedding and I was being hustled into a dressing room to get ready for the ceremony. But on the way there I [...]

Today I saw an interview with a young woman who serves as mtvU’s correspondent in Sudan.
Stephanie Nyombayire is a freshman at Swarthmore College and a native of Rwanda who came to the US nearly four years ago. Having lost nearly one hundred family members and friends during the Rwandan genocide in 1994, Stephanie speaks on [...]

"Controversy sells," Khalaf said. "It brings a lot of attention.
Everybody wants to label all Arabics terrorists just because a couple
of people messed up. Well, I’m going to play along with that character.
I’m going to let you think I’m one."

Maybe it’s just a "guy thing" to round upwards 3-4 inches for height,
but I kind of wish he hadn’t done that. Especially given that I didn’t
do the "girl thing" and round downwards 10-20 pounds for weight. I
erred on the side of caution and told him that I was "at the lower end
of plus size/full figure," [...]

I signed up for an online matching service where I posted my photo and a short profile. Recently, someone responded to it, saying he was interested in a long term relationship and/or making a new friend. He wasn’t 55 or 19, or using a notorious rapper’s mug shot for his photo, and his brief profile [...]

Chippies and cricket.
His father owned a local "chippie," a fish and chips place, where Tanweer worked part time.
Outside the chippie, he was a sports science student at an area
university and an avid cricket player. In fact, according to British
newspapers, cricket is the only thing friends thought he was fanatical
about.
